What are ETFs?

Exchange traded funds (ETFs) are a type of exchange traded product (ETP), and are a convenient way to access a broad range of equities, bonds, sectors, commodities or regions through a single investment. You can buy and sell ETFs on the stock market just like ordinary shares, and many are designed to track the performance of a particular index (like the FTSE100) they often have lower fees than actively managed funds.
